MEDICAL ASSISTANT

​OOMI trains every student to become multiskilled and well versed in both the clinical and the didactic aspect. Your training will include front office duties and responsibilities such as medical ethics, communication skills, retrieving patient demographics, check-in & check -out, insurance verification, computer skills, medical terminology, electronic filing, and scheduling appointments. The back office will encompass a multitude of information to include anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, phlebotomy, administering medications, injections, blood pressures, vitals / triage, minor surgical procedures, pharmacology, and EKG’s. This specialized career works parallel to physicians and the medical team.

PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

OOMI trains every student to understand and grasp the different methods of drawing blood (venipuncture). You will be trained to work with body fluids such as blood, feces, urine, and sputum and the proper procedure of the specimen’s transportation. The student will also learn the Order of Draw, and the specified additives in each tube and their purpose. You will also learn the practice and history of blood and its components, and all safety precautions, and HIPAA compliance. This specialized career has the flexibility to work in various entities of the health care field.
